Seasonal Allergy
By Mr. Suki So (Pharmacist)
Spring is supposed to be full of vigour and vitality. Nevertheless, seasonal allergy can be easily triggered during this period of a year due to pollen, severe air pollution in modern cities, humid and misty weather, and household dust mite. The common forms of allergy are allergic rhinitis, allergy in the upper airway and eye allergies.
Major symptoms of allergic rhinitis include runny nose, sneezing, stuffy nose, itchy nose and sinusitis. Allergens would also affect eyes and cause itchy, watery and puffy eyes in some cases. Allergic upper airways usually cause itchy throat, thick phlegm, and even shortness of breath.
