Why do I need this medicine?
Acetylcysteine is used together with other medicines to treat lung disorders associated with abnormal, thick and viscous mucous secretions (phlegm).
This medicine reduces the thickness of the phlegm so it can be cough up more easily.
Acetylcysteine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.
How do I take this medicine?
Take this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Acetylcysteine is available as a powder for oral solution or effervescent tablet. Dissolve the tablet or contents of one sachet in a glass of water, stir and drink all the mixture. Diluted solution should be consumed within 1 hour of preparation.
This medicine should be taken together with food or immediately after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.
