Why do I need this medicine?
Ciclosporin is used on its own or together with other medicines to prevent organ rejection in kidney, heart and liver transplants.
This medicine may also be used to treat chronic organ rejection and certain immune disorders of the joint, skin, and kidney.
This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Ciclosporin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take it with or without food. Try to take it consistently with relation to meals and at the same time each day.
This medicine is available as a capsule or as an oral suspension.
If you are taking the modified-release type of capsule, swallow it whole. Do not break or chew the capsule.
If you are taking an oral suspension, use the measuring syringe provided to measure your dose. Remove the protective cover of the syringe, withdraw the prescribed dose from the bottle of the oral solution, and transfer it in a glass container. You may dilute the measured dose with milk, chocolate milk, orange juice, or apple juice at room temperature. Stir the diluted solution well and administer immediately.
There is a specific dosage recommendation for each formulation and brand of this medicine. Different preparation of this medicine cannot be substituted for each other. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before switching.
The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the type and severity of your condition.
Ciclosporin must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
