Betamethasone – Topical/Cutaneous

Why do I need this medicine?

Betamethasone helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems.


How do I use this medicine?

Apply Betamethasone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or over a larger area than instructed by your doctor.

If you are using the cream, ointment or lotion, follow these steps:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Clean and dry affected area before application.
3. Rub Betamethasone gently on the skin or scalp until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
4. Wash your hands after using.
5. Replace the cap of the tube.

If you are using the foam, follow these steps:

1. Wash your hands.
2. Turn the container upside-down and put small amount of the preparation onto a saucer or other cool surface. Do not place directly into your hands.
3. Apply few amounts of foam to the affected area as directed by your doctor.
4. Rub Betamethasone gently until it disappears.
5. Wash your hands after using.

Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

Do not use with occlusive dressing unless instructed by the doctor.

This medicine may be used regularly or when required. If you are using the medicine regularly, do not stop abruptly unless instructed by your doctor, as this may suddenly worsen your condition.
