Why do I need this medicine?

Apixaban is used to treat blood clot in the veins of your leg or lungs. It helps prevent the blood clot from re-occurring.

This medicine may also be used to prevent blood clots after a hip or knee replacement surgery.

Apixaban may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.

How do I take this medicine?

Take Apixaban exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

You may take this medicine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

If you have difficulty swallowing tablet(s), you may crush the tablet(s) and mix it with water or 5% dextrose in water or apple juice, stir and drink immediately.
